U.S. – Cuban Relations

The Council on Hemispheric Affairs will shortly issue an analysis of the future of U.S. – Cuban relations in the wake of the November 2nd midterm elections:

• The Republican midterm victory threatens to further dilute President Obama’s tepid attempts to change the tone of the United States’ relations with its traditional hemispheric foe

• A Republican majority in the House of Representatives further jeopardizes the evolution of the United States’ relationship with Cuba at a crucial juncture, when all signs from Havana point to an increased interest in changing the tone and substance of relations with the U.S.
