The Clash of Civilizations and Latin America: Twenty Years Later

Alejandro Sánchez has published a provocative commentary on the website of the highly regarded Yale Journal of International Affairs, discussing Samuel Huntington’s famous article The Clash of Civilizations. In his commentary, Sánchez debates whether Latin America and the Caribbean are closer to becoming unifield civilizations as Huntington predicted two decades ago. This article is meant to encourage a scholarly debate of renowned theories that sprung at the end of the Cold War, such as Huntington’s, and whether they may become realities.
