Humala Resumes Travels
Last week, Peruvian President-elect Ollanta Humala visited the United States and met with key diplomats in Washington. For a full description of his visit, see COHA’s research article entitled, Reverberation of President-Elect Ollanta Humala’s Trip to the White House. In addition to his initial hemispheric tour, Humala traveled Friday to Venezuela and is planning to continue on to Mexico tomorrow, July 18. After rescheduling multiple times due to the Hugo Chávez’s operations and health complications, the two leaders finally met as planned. From Venezuela, Humala plans to travel to Mexico; Humala’s spokesperson called this meeting “an opportunity to go over the main issues on the bilateral agenda and address how the new administration plans to government.”
